The Yumi Kurosawa Trio is a Contemporary World Chamber Music Ensemble featuring koto, violin, and percussion. Blending Japanese musical traditions with contemporary composition, the trio creates a distinctive sound world that bridges cultures, genres, and musical expressions.
Led by koto performer and composer Yumi Kurosawa, the ensemble explores the space between tradition and innovation through original compositions and musical dialogue. The interplay of koto, violin, and percussion moves between moments of intimacy and stillness, intricate rhythmic exchanges, and powerful, energetic passages.
|The trio offers audiences a fresh perspective on the koto, placing this centuries-old Japanese instrument in conversation with Western classical traditions and contemporary musical expression. Each performance invites listeners into an evolving sound world shaped by three individual musical voices and their shared spirit of exploration.
