For over thirty years, Ingram Marshall has been heralded for his prolific compositions ranging from Indonesian Gamelan-inspired melodies to his use of live recording tape collages that incorporate extended vocal techniques. Garnering inspiration from the West coast to the East, Mr. Marshall is composing a new work for Lionheart and ACME string quartet based on early American psalmody. The piece will include a re-working of the 23rd Psalm from the Bay Psalm Book of 1692, the earliest printed music in North America, whose austere but curiously poignant melodies will supply the source materials for this new work.
