"The cello goddess..." - The New Yorker
Over the past decade, Maya Beiser has created a new repertoire for cello, commissioning and performing many works written for her by today’s leading composers. In 2009-10, Beiser performed with the Boston Pops the world premiere of a piece arranged for her by Academy Award-nominated composer James Newton Howard. She also brought her program Provenance to venues including the University of California, San Diego, the University of Denver. Most recently, she performed World to Come for the Celebrity Series of Boston and participated in the inaugural concert for the Power of Muze, a UN sponsored music initiative. Her newly released CD of Provenance peaked at #1 for Classical music and #1 for World music on Amazon.com’s best sellers lists.
